Mountaineer Chapter Meeting
Sunday, August 8th, 2010
1 PM @ Buckethead’s
15 Members Present

Meeting called-to-order by President, Wayne Harvey; pledge of allegiance recited & welcome greeting provided.

Membership Report provided by Vice President, Carol Harvey, with three (3) new members signed-up at Mountainfest:  A. Turner, M. Snodgrass, C. Quinn; also two (2) renewals of current members Jonathon Giles & George Raddish.

Treasurer’s Report is unavailable due to family emergency; updated information will be obtained at Price family’s convenience & provided at September, 2010, meeting.

Road Captain, Rusty Seaman, provided amended items to the July 2010 minutes regarding our Chapter’s Two-Day ride being held Sept. 18th & 19th; the ride is approximately 325 miles in length, and leaves Sabraton Sheetz @ 10am on Sept. 18th.  Rusty also provided phamplets with information regarding lodging @ Keyser Inn, etc.  Further details provided below under “New Business”.

OLD BUSINESS

President Wayne Harvey informed members present that outstanding debt was paid in full by Mr. Julio Chaplin; misc. computer items have not yet been returned & newsletter is incomplete, etc. 
 
Our Chapter’s poker run conducted during Mountainfest was discussed, with further emphasis placed on controlled ticket sales for door prizes; it was decided to continue holding door prize tickets sales for paid riders separate from that of additional door prize ticket sales for individuals arriving following the ride/run, etc.
Road Captain, Rusty Seaman, provided details of upcoming benefit run requested by Rich & Kathy Cosner, to be held on Saturday, October 2nd; the benefit has been titled “Just Cause” and will begin at Reedy’s in Fairmont, WV; additional details to follow at Sept. 2010 meeting, as ride is being put-together, “firmed-up”, etc.
Member Becky Sperandio reminded members of continued need for door prizes at all upcoming / remaining benefit rides.

NEW BUSINESS

Road Captain, Rusty Seaman, provided details regarding Chapter’s upcoming “Freedom of Choice” run to benefit our WV State Chapter; the ride will be held on Saturday, August 28th, and begin at Buckethead’s, sign-ups from 11am to noon, stops include Two Rivers Inn, Tradesman’s, Rudnick’s, and Max ‘n Sam’s, with last stop / after-party being at Buckethead’s.  Rusty has made-up fliers and will be distributing over the next several weeks.

President, Wayne Harvey, provided details of State EMB meeting conducted @ Shoney’s during Mountainfest and thanked those who attended to provide chapter support, etc.;  the following items were presented / discussed at the EBM meeting:
Membership – complaints of paid members not receiving cards or patches; result being provision of such is now chapter-owned;
State Party – shared ownership of putting on the party encouraged to be among all chapters with ensuing discussion involving state representatives expressing emphasis on Mountaineer Chapter taking sole responsibility; result being item was tabled for further discussion;
Checking Account Balance Amount(s) – Mountaineer Chapter requested increasing allowable balance amount to be up to at least $9,999.99; result being discussion of possible re-write of state by-laws to increase amount to $3,000 – 5,000.

MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS

President, Wayne Harvey, presented information regarding upcoming benefit ride being held on Sept. 25th for Randy Hartley; this event is not A.B.A.T.E. sponsored, but is being sponsored by both Hartley & Harvey families and friends; ride is leaving Mt. Morris Legion at 1pm with sign-ups from 11am to 1pm; route involves traveling Rt. 19N to Waynesburg Yamaha, Route 88 to Jimmie’s Place, then Rt. 119S to Morgantown Honda-Yamaha; ride will end at Classic’s in Sabraton @ 4pm with music, food, door-prizes, etc.

On motion by Becky Sperandio, with 2nd from Sue Ross, current meeting was adjourned.

On motion by Joey Morris, with 2nd from Mary Stanley, next Chapter meeting will be held on Sunday, September 12th, at 1pm @ Buckethead’s.
